Indian Club Title IV-A is an Indian Education program funded through federal funds under Public Law 92-318 originally passed in 1972. It is expressly for the purpose of supple- menting educational programs for the Indian child as defined under this act. It may provide programs, supplies or other forms of educational aids. At the present time, the Arts and Crafts program of the high school, and the Home-School Coordinator (Mrs. Lof- tin) in addition to a Parental Cost component (one which allows funds to be spent for the purchase of educational supplies for the individual Indian student) are being fund- ed through Title IV-A, Indian Education. Mrs. Loftin's duties are to work with the Indian home in an attempt to discourage drop-outs, encourage regular attendance of the Indian child, purchase and distribute parental cost items, sponsor the Indian Club, and in gen- eral, act as a liason person between the Indian home and the school to forestall any problems, or in the event of problems, to aid in the solution of these problems. 53 Junior And Senior High 4-H Ron, pres.; Denise, v.p.; Johnny, rep.; Kim, sec.; Monica, treas. Kim Martinez, senior, and Danny Etzkorn, 1982 graduate, were announced as the new Hall of Fame winners at the County 4-H Banquet in Tahlequah. New Library Hulbert School applied for and received a Li- brary Media Grant from the Oklahoma State De- partment of Libraries for the school year 1982-83. This grant enabled Hulbert School to establish a library for students and faculty in grades kinder- garten through twelve. With these funds, books, magazines, dictionaries, encyclopedias, film- strips, and audio visual equipment were pur- chased to support and enrich the school's cur- riculum and provide reading and reference mate- rials for all students. These funds also provided the services of a full-time library aid, Mrs. Don- na Buford. Today the learning process requires the ability of students to use a variety of materials and in- formation, and it is hoped the establishment of an adequate library will help prepare Hulbert students to use these materials. Junior High Cheerleaders The junior high cheerleaders have been quite outstanding this year under the leadership of Donna Kilpatrick and Polly Holtgrewe. They attended Cheerleading Camp at NSU, where they learned new cheers, chants, and pom pom routines. They performed their pom pom routines at football and basketball games. They also marched with the Rider Band in several pa- rades. The girls raised over $500, which they used for uniforms and camp fees. The girls usually practice twice a week, and this practice was reflected in performances that were polished. 75 Christopher Arnall Charlie Baldridge Melissa Barrows Playing on the slide Kelli Beaver Leonard Chism Michele Daniels Fli abeth Farrow Angela Fielden Bryan Gabbard Felicia Gandy Cynthia Haddock Sheila Hargrove Lorrie Henson Kelly Hulbert Cherri Justice Cindy Korte Angela Long Sheryl McMahan Stacy McSiveeney Alicia Medlin Veronica MU sap Steven Odell Kimberly Payne Jeffrey Patterson Angela Richmond Deborah Smith Tracy Teague Cissy Truitt King Truitt Charles Walls 77 Brandy Ames Bryan A mall Stephen Arnall Victoria Barrows Belinda Brake Tanya Burch Troy Cade Dennis Cauthron James Chaffin Kristal Chuculate Lajuana Copeland Loretta Davis Doris Ficlden Jayna Fortner Christy Jackman Michelle Johnson Rhonda Jones Carl McClure Deanna Mullins Michelle Peters James Powers William Reese Rhonda Shrum Jerri Simmons Joseph Sparks Famous Truitt Jenny Tuttle Tammy Williams Clara Whitekiller Donna Whitener Fifth graders are working hard. 78 FOURTH Bill Bean Candi Boyd Pennie Brake Chris Butler Shanti Burch Dracula (Jason) finds a victim (Kari). It has developed from a group of two or three men and a 1936 fire truck into a well-trained, well-equipped group of 15 men, a tank truck, a '63 fire truck, a new $36,000 fire truck, and a $45,000 building. Money was raised through a one-cent sales tax and a weekly bingo. One person who has been largely responsible for making Hulbert's Fire Department one of the finest in the state is Chief Frank Teague. Other volunteers are Bobby Ellis, Randy Ott, George Truitt, Tommy Truitt, Doc Fielden, Jerry Pruitt, Howard Daniels, Paul Kile, Sidney Craig, Kenneth Fore, Dale Fielden, Carl Dill, Jeff Jones, Herbert Davis, and Gary Willis. The new fire truck adds to the Homecoming Parade. Well, the Hulbert Lions Club does that, but it also has done much more. The Lions Club has sponsored an elementary basketball tournament for the past three years. A portion of this money has been given to help finance the Little League, to buy a jump pump for Hulbert athletes, and to help pay for the scoreboard in the gym. The Lions Club has also contributed to the Lions statewide services, such as the Boys Home at Perkins, which is supported solely by Lions Clubs throughout the state. Warren Abramowicz is president of the nineteen member organization which serves Lost City, Norwood, Shady Grove, and Hulbert communi- ties. Lost City students participate in the Homecoming Parade, which is partially supervised by Lions Club members. V DAVIS FEEQfeTOR .
