The Hulbert Riders en- joyed a very successful season in 1979 with a great record of 7-3. The Riders had many fine players, and the sea- son was a success be- cause of hard work, the off-season-program, and the Riders playing as a team. Coach Miller and Coach Freeman felt that this was one of the greatest team efforts they had seen in 45 years of playing and coaching football. The Riders season had many highlights, but the most exciting were the Riders victories over Westville and Oaks. The Riders will miss their seniors, John was not present when group pictures were but are already prepar- ,akcn' ing for a good season in 1980. Thank you for your support this season. They got a group together and with the help of a 1936 fire truck have battled numerous blazing fires. In 1978 it was decided that a more up-to-date truck was needed. The town voted a one-cent sales tax to pay for the new $36,000 fire truck. The volunteers established a weekly Saturday night bingo to buy a $45,000 building, which will be paid for in February, 1982, to house the truck. Since then they’ve added a tanker, which is used to help fight small grass fires. Hulbert is proud of these volunteers for what they have done for the community.
