It comes not back again. Wisely improve the Present. It is thine. Go forth to meet the shadowy Future, without fear, and with a manly heart. With these immortal words of the poet Longfellow, we the 1966 graduating class of Huguenot Academy offer you this Pioneer . As students, we cannot be sheltered forever, we must grow and develop. We must reach out and grasp the challenge of lifeg for, in our souls and minds we hold the key to success. Will we, as students of the Huguenot Academy, advantageously utilize these wondrous blessings that have been bestowed upon us? We must. Huguenot Academy is giving us the strength so that we may not remain sheltered forever, we shall grow and develop. The Almighty is giving our school the power to rise above our disbelieversg out of the reach of dangers, out of the clutch of perils. Taller and taller we are growing -- a symbol of strength and perfection. May God forever bless us and may we always flourish. Paula Banton, Editor I yfrouygouf ffe year. . With the completion of fall sports and the beginning of winter, students' minds turn back to the task at hand - - study. The preparation of exami- nations and term projects keeps stu- dents busy for many hours. The spirit of autumn at Huguenot Academy is exemplified by its fall sport -- football. The excess energy acquired during the summer is now directed to the anticipation and chal- lenge of a new school term here at Huguenot Academy. 'x lr With the arrival of spring the end of another school term is fast ap- proachingg the students focus their attention on summer and the vacation that awaits them. William D. Pleasants Our lovable Willy attracts admirers of all ages. QDQO?CdZZIbI2 William D. Pleasants is the true inspir- ation for every Senior Class at Huguenot Acad- emy, whether he is guiding us through our Government course or making us behave in Florida. This is his third year at the Academy as head of the History and Government Depart- ments. With each passing year he gains more experience and understanding which makes him so valuable to his students. To the Seniors he is our guiding light throughout the year, one in which we will never forget as he leads us through the final steps of graduation. We all love you, Wi1ly and always re- main your sweet, wonderful self! Mr. Pleasants demonstrates the true spirit of Hu- guenot Academy through his enthusiastic person- ality. t DOUGLAS G. PALMORE 97141112 Clpdf 060914 cgcfoof Mrs. Lillian T. West is a true example of the pioneer spirit at Huguenot Academy, for she was the first teacher when the Academy had its beginning in 1959. Mrs. West possesses a rare quality of un- derstanding and guidance towards her students which is truly exemplified in her warm person- ality. Huguenot Academy is indeed very fortunate to boast of aprincipal like Mrs. West. Her in- fluence over the students is quite dominant as she prepares them for their acceleration into the Upper School. Mrs. West's experience in teaching is quite apparent by her excellent record and she shall continue to shine brightly at Huguenot Academy. c72Qa0f22a.9fef pfoer cgcfoof New to Huguenot Academy this year is Doug- las G. Palmore who has successfully completed his first year as Headmaster. Mr. Palmore received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Richmond and his Master of Education from the College of William and Mary. Education is not a new experience for Mr. Palmore for he has taught in Tokyo, Japan at the United States Armed Forces Institute. Mr. Palmore also taught in Henrico County, Vir- ginia for five years prior to his appointment here at Huguenot. Huguenot Academy is very proud of their Headmaster and his impressive record of achievement in education. Earlier this year he was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Educator Award. We sincerely hope his stay at Huguenot Academy is a long and rewarding one. 111 T? L- f . .i . - ? -TE? .- .. LILLIAN T. WEST SW ' , S 9.7 1 ,K James C. Adams i Music Department 9 Evelyn S.
