Leland Walker goes high to lay in 2 points against Syracuse. Jim Leslie looks on. The Hugoton Eagles moved up out of the cellar this year for the first time in two years. We finished second behind Ulysses with Meade and Syracuse following. The coming basketball year should be promising. Sophomore Leland Walker, a red-headed 6'3 center should supply plenty of scoring punch the next two years. To give him plent of help will be 5'6 guard Gary Hinkle, a good-shot and ci fine playmakcr who is also a sophomore, Harold Perry, Larry Rowden and Zim Leslie will probably be among the starting five on Coach Dave Craft 's team. Missini from next year's squad will be Tex Demuth, Wayne Warren, and Bill Price, who was elected captain of the team. Bill finished up his igh school asketball with a 15 point average.
