Once again the High-Flying Eagles fought their way to another fine basketball season. Although the Eagles win and loss record was not overwhelming, it was still impressive. Although Cliff Binn's Eagles won eleven hard fought victories, they also had their wings clipped six times. The Eagles added to their laurel second place in the Southwest Kansas League Tourna- ment and also second place in the S.K.L. The impressive Eagles scoring attack with 902 points to op-ponents 708 was led by scorers, Gary Ausbun, with an average of 17.3, Don Crane, 9.4, Don Horton, 9.4, Harry Horton, 6.05, Dave Sessler, 3.8. The rebouding strength came from Don and Harry Horton. While Ron Betsworth, Frosty McCoy, Phil Brubaker and Ben Moon provided the reserve power. Although from this year's squad, the Eagles lost three of their staring five, Don Horton, Don Crane, and Gary Ausbun. lt has all its reserve strength returning, including a sophomore, Todd Ikard. This all gives us the idea that the Eagles are going all out for another good season next year. Good luck! Eagles! The results of the District Tournament are as follows: First Round: Dighton: 443 Hugoton: 56 Second Round: Scott City: 285 Hugoton: 38 26 Final fChampionshipl: Ulysses: 40, Hugoton: The Eagles did it again!
