FACULTY 6 We are all individuals. No two of us will be just alike. Each one has talent, some ability, and some compensating virtues. Our problem is to understand ourselves in relation to our opportunities in the world about us and plan a career that will bring satisfaction and happiness. One of your most important tasks is to make your personality effective in a particular environment. To do this you must become skilled in the enterprise of living. In these trying times the world is sadly in need of leadership. Men and women who can get along well with people, who can stand ridicule and criticism, who can presevere in the face of jealousy and friction, who will not wilt under discouragement; and who are not afraid of work are needed. Long ago Socrates wrote on the Greek Temple, Know Thyself. He realized that achievement in any field of living is dependent upon an accurate knowledge of one's self. If you want to live pleasantly and profitable, you must become interested and take time to modify and improve your personality. This is a big task and cannot be done overnight. Your acts, thoughts, desires have their place in the shaping of your personality, just as each scrap of masonry makes its contribution to the final structure and strength of a building.
