BUFFALO TRAILS 1972 Hugo High School Presented By The Annual Staff Hugo, Oklahoma Volume XVIV Contents Alma Mater Administration Faculty Classes Organizations Favorites Athletics Activities 2 We will soon take our place Treasuring memories through smiles and tears. Foreword Hugo High School moves on!! Yes, youth moves on! Buffalo Trails 1972 is a trail of recorded memories of foot- ball games, club meetings, classes, hours of study, best friends ... Trails of yesterday move ever forward. Other trails of other lives move on into the future, but the trail of the school year 1971-72 is recorded forever in the pages of this Buffalo Trails. 4 READING LAB STADIUM SCHOOL NURSE OFC. GYMNASIUM HIGH SCHOOL (9th) VOCATIONAL BUILDING Dedicated We recognize the influence and the impact Ira R. Arm- strong has had on the many students who have graduated from Hugo High School. Mr. Armstrong served this school and this community from 1943 until his death in 1971. We humbly dedicate this 1972 annual to this great man. 6 Editors and Staff ADMINISTRATION MR. SIMON PARKER Superintendent In these times of unrest, let us be reminded that our great growth in the past came from our educa- tional system. May we all be awakened to the truth that only education can provide the solid, constructive, creative changes that will improve our school, com- munity, nation, and world. 8 MR. UPCHURCH Principal The year 1971-72 has been a most unusual year. Even from the beginning, our loss of Mr. Armstrong as an outstanding educator and man was felt by those of us who knew him. We commend our annual staff and their adviser for an excellent 1971-72 edition of Buffalo Trails. The time and effort spent in planning a preparation should be well rewarded in this book. To each of our students, we wish every success as they continue to seek and reach educational goals before them. May we each achieve self-discipline, Christian citizenship, personal character, happiness, and mental discipline. MR. BOLIN Vice-Principal MRS. BRAUDRICK Secretary MRS. Being a Senior means something dif- ferent to each person. To some, it simply means an end to 12 years of hard work and study. To others, it is a very special year — a time to remember the good times and good friends from the past 11 years of school. To all Seniors of 1971-72, this year marks not the end, but the beginning of a very promising and hopeful future — a new life.
