Foreword The foreword of a book gives the editors a chance to give the reader a preview and an insight into the pages that follow. We would like to take this opportunity to do just that. Traditional commencement ceremonies in june will honor I-Iughson's 50th gradua- tion class. Hughson High School has endeavored to prepare students for adult life for more than fifty years. Each of the fifty classes has its own treasure chest of memories. Each student, in however small a way, has added to the history of Hughson Union High School. Hughson has seen many changes in fifty years. The school plant itself, as you shall see in later pages, has seen great changes, as has the main street of Hughson. Wagon ruts in Main Street have changed to bumps unfelt by modern autos. Hughson, nevertheless, has the past still in its blood. The old hotel Qnow the Odd Fellows I-Iallj and the present library are landmarks for those five or fifty -five years old. This anniversary edition is the largest yearbook ever published at Hughson. Its size, however, is not the only change. We have included a greater coverage of acti- ties and athletic events, and have also added a section commemorating l-Iughson's growth during the past fifty years. We have endeavored to be original, imaginative, and yet to give you quality in a unique way. Our goal, aside from recording the school year, has been to please the reader. We hope we have accomplished this. Start now leafing through the book, but keep in mind that even though there will be other anniversary edition yearbooks at Hughson, you have the prized--- the FIRST 2
