Fw I F1 ,Wi '41 V x hi 1 w,zf10f ' Va? 1 ,fn ffm? 6g Oman 7aw2fZa:ZZ Harold Dav1s Sally Moore My J FOGTBALL SQUAD FOOT BALL HIGHLIGHT S The Mustangs defeated Hallsvllle 7 6 1n the 1n1t1a1 game of the season Bugs Dav1s scored the wmmng touchdown and Ray McK1nney added the all lmportant conversxon In the second game w1th P1ttsburg po1nt makers were spott1ng the Mustangs 35 po1nts but they needed only one as they lost to th1s class A power 6 7 W1th a m1nute and f1fteen seconds left to play the score was t1ed 0 0 Plttsburg scored and kmcked the pomt for a 7 0 lead On the f1rst play from scr1mmage Dav1s h1t W1tt w1th a forty yard ae r1al and the l1ttle scat back went all the way We lost our annual grudge battle w1th Lmden 0 9 Lxnden scored a touchdown and safety 1n the last f1ve mmutes to down the Mustangs In the f1rst conference game aga1nst Talco the Mustangs enjoyed a 19 13 lead unt1l the very last four m1nutes then lt faded and d1ed as the Trojans cap1tal1zed on a fumble and pass mterceptmon to w1n ze 19 Talco won the b1 d1str1ct they were lucky to get past our Mustangs W1th three narrow loses the Mustangs were due to get back on the w1nn1ng s1de of the ledger They d1d lt at the expense of Naples 12 6 took a stomp1ng to the tune of Z5 O Every Mustang saw act1on 1n routlng the1r anc1ent r1vals .Tames Bowle fell v1ct1ms to the power laden Mustang attack as the red and black swept to a 38 6 w1n The Plrates were unable to score untll Coach Blount sent 1n all of h1S reserves IH the last quarter Deport came 1nto town roarlng l1ke a l1on but left tame as a kltten as the Mustangs chalked up another v1ctory Zl 7 In thls game Capta1n Ray McK1nney suffered abroken leg and was lost to the squad for the season The Mustangs trounced Bogota 33 20 m a w1ld fray that had every one 1n the stands on edge In the f1rst quarterl-Iughes Spr1ngs scored Z7 po1nts The Bulldogs came back f1ght1ng and ut1l1z1ng a ten man lme and a ramycllmate scored Z0 po1nts wh1le the Mustangs account ed for 6 It s true the Mustangs lost to Damgerfxeld 18 19 but 15 wasn t as bad as the Da1ngerf1eld paper would have you be11eve The Mustangs had two men s1del1ned and four w1th key 1nJur1es for th1s all 1m portant game The game ended w1th the Mustangs on the two 1nch l1ne The Mustangs led IH every phase of Stat1St1CS But they st1ll count the score and we lost 18 19.
