Mrs. Alice Raible has been manager of the Hughes lunchrooms and kitch- en since 1947. Once a day, five days a week, more than two thousand stu- dents plus one hundred teachers eat at Hughes. Mrs. Raible plans each day's meal weeks in advance and also handles the financial transactions. Actual preparation of the meals is done by a competent staff of cooks and assistants hired by the Board of Education. M rs. Alice Raible In recent years many modern appli- ances and methods of cooking have been installed in the Hughes kitchen. There are three lunchrooms that are used daily at Hughes. One small lunchroom accommodates the teach- ers, and the two larger ones are for the students. The Goodloe Dining Room, located in the basement, was named in honor of Miss Nina Goodloe, Hughes graduate and teacher. It is now used only for special conferences. Working in the kitchen provides both enjoyment and remuneration for the students. Faye Turbville and Patti Bragg help Mrs. Henrietta Aron during the fourth bell. Page fifteen
