ElIllEH UI. HIZEH, PRIIICIPHL 0F HUGHES HIGH SCH00l H HHPPV TIHIE Page ten The theme for your annual seems quite appropriate in view of the experiences you have had in your first seventeen or eighteen years of life. Each year you live should bring with it its full measure of joy and satisfaction. There may have been periods of anxiety, indecision, and even frustration, all of which may have caused you much concern. What has Hughes contributed in making the over all experience while in high school a happy one? In your first year great effort was made to orient you to your new surroundings. How successful your teachers and coun- selors were is measured not only by your grades, but also by your general attitude toward your school. In each succeeding year Hughes has made possible to you countless opportunities for all around development. My hope is that you have never been indifferent to these opportunities either scholastically or so- cially. Your four years have been happy ones for me too. It has been wonderful to share with you your joys, your sorrows, and your hopes for the future. Remember, my in- terest in you will continue throughout the coming years. Have your four years at Hughes been A Happy Time ? I trust they have. Elmer W. Kizer
