On September 7, although the fall weather had not yet begun, students of H ughes Evening H igh School started their new school year. Hughes Evening, the oldest evening school West of the Alle- ghenies, opened once again for the sixty-seventh consecutive year. This year would promise to be one of the most exciting ones of all. An orientation assembly was held and M r. Hobson our principal introduced the students to the many benefits they could expect at Hughes Evening; the administra- tors, our fine faculty, the secre- tarial stat?r and our service groups. Scholastic honors, service hon- ors and extra curricular activities were explained. Our award win- ning newspaper the Voice was cited. Several excellent assemblies, such as Mr. Maslowshi and his nature hlms, the Air Force Band and Mr. Ted Bumiller, were pre- sented t0 the students. Rounding out the fall season the students knew how they stood in their classes and prepared for yet another semester of serious study and new friends. And so, the autumn activities presented a good take-ol? for 1966-67 and Hughes Evening. W ' QM v -L: a I - an ' ? ELECN . f FCC L-L' x WAN ?i'E? EB maai mm m K'c'. ,W MMWW! ' .v. 1' I H ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO winter As autumn turned into winter, activities changed with the weath- er. The school began to take on a festive air as the holiday season approached. Soon after vacation, exam time rolled around. As the second se- mester began, so did the snows, but classes continued as planned and our hot drinks program was begun. Students now were talking about graduation and the counse- lors were busy checking the many details prior to graduation. For many students this was a sad time of the year since they finally realized that they were tak- ing their last course, walking down familiar stairs for the last time, asking the last question, and leav- ing behind so many friends. 11 12 :- I $.a I FD!- am R q: . p. , ,m f. l3 ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO spring... As February came to an end and March began, warm weather and signs of spring appeared. Stu- dents with spring fever were also eager to enroll in the uspring term? Mr. Ted Buemiller showed the second part of film on Spain and a rush of activities concerning credits was evidenced. With the beginning of May a flurry of acitiuities began to take place, mainly involving the seniors. Award night was a huge success and many students were honored with scholastic and service awards. As exams ended the year, our seniors were preparing for the graduation commencement at Music Hall which culminated suc- cessfully years of work. and fun for the class of 1967. 16 18 ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO administration ECHO ECHO ECHO Dr. Paul A.
