There's a fight in the commons, three stacks of paperwork to be done, some- thing to be approved, six inches of water in Mrs. SmalI's room from the leaky roof, and to top it all off the phone is ringing. Who do they call? Mr. Freeman, of course! Who's going to take care of everything? Mr. Freeman, of course! John A. Free- man is more than just the principal of Cum- mings: he's a friend of students, as well as staff. His caring attitude and air of control set an orga- nized feeling during times of chaos and give an overlying air of calm to all Cum- mings activities. Since CHS opened in 1970, every class that finished at Cum- mings has been proud to say that they had a principal that made a difference, J.A. Free- man. And why does Mr. Freeman continue to make this differ- ence? It must be love! Every morning, Mr. Freeman can be seen standing outside watching after his students. John A. Freeman is to be commended this year for his fifteen years of service at Cummings High School, The name says it all! 70 IGH H. FREE

There are many duties that school secretaries must perform. There are papers to file, phones to answer, announcements to be made, and there is always a student who needs to leave school. fI'm really sick, Mrs. Parker, l want to go home, not lie in the sick room.l Somehow, with the help of office assistants, Mrs. Mclntyre and Mrs. Parker manage to keep things in correct order. Everyone appreciates the difference in organization that the office makes. Never mind that the office was set up in the choral room over the summer, CHS secretaries did a good iob anyway. Mr. Bryan informs Mrs. Mclntyre of some important phone calls that are to be made today. Office assistants are ffrom left to rightj: Catherine Shephard, Jeff Minor, Wendy Lewis, Renee Inman, Terry Depeyster, Sherice Dunn, Sandra Ray, Tim Roberts, and fseated on the floory Thomas Watlington. Mrs. Parker pauses a moment to reflect on how many passes she has had to write today.
