In addition to participating in the homecoming parade, members demonstrated business finesse by sponsoring a type-a-thon for the Leukemia Society. Over 5300.00 was raised for this charity. The group visited a rest home before Christmas and carried cheer baskets to the residents. Following this, the annual Christmas party was held. The District Five Competitive events were held in Greensboro in February. Entrants included Michelle Long and Christie Bigelow in Graphic Arts: Beth Warren in Clerk- Typist I: and Anita Jones in Clerk-Typist ll. State competition will be held in March in Winston-Salem. Results of these competitions were not known at this printing: however, if past years are any indication, FBLA members will do very well. Activities scheduled for the remainder of the year include working with the March of Dimes campaign and the Heart Fund.

EC.A. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been an active club for over five years and this year was no exception. Several of the club officers went to a convention in the spring of '84 to learn more about EC.A. At Christmas EC.A. members collected food, clothes, and other household items for Teen Challenge in Greensboro. The club also helped with the C.H.S. Blood Drive. Cummings EC.A. worked with Drew Van Horn and neighboring EC.A. groups this year to coordinate the annual Weekend of Champions at Elon College. The club also planned a beach trip in the spring. Meetings were on Monday nights at 8:00 with Bible Study at 7:30, Wednesday mornings at 8:00, and officers meetings at 8:00 on Friday mornings. Under the direction of Sherry Puckett, Bernard Faulk, Glenda Baumgarner, and with the help of Randy X, EC.A. was a successful club this year.
