Cummings has always had one of the finest basketball teams in the state, due mostly to Coach Jerry Woodside and his ability to make the best use of his players in any situation. The players themselves should not be overlooked by any means. Cummings' young men work hard to play the way they do, and most of their best players make a name for themselves in their junior year, leaving a good continuity between teams each year. SportsfJ V Girls Basketball 49 ES WE CAN The athletic program has taken on new dimensions this year, but fortunately one old dimension has remained. Coach Trogdon's philosophy of hard work and believing in true athletic dedication has continued. During the first half of the season, the squad won some very close games. During the second half of the season, however, problems arose and somehow things just would not come together. Rebuilding the team was one major concern for Coach Trogdon's young 84-85 Lady Cavalier Team. Relying heavily on the experience of senior Penney Sellars, the Lady Cavs looked forward to the tournament in February. Penney Sellars was for the second year in a row the leading scorer in the Mid-State Conference. The team captains were Penney Sellars and Debbie Thompson. There are papers to file, phones to answer, announcements to be made, and there is always a student who needs to leave school. fI'm really sick, Mrs. Parker, l want to go home, not lie in the sick room.l Somehow, with the help of office assistants, Mrs. Mclntyre and Mrs. Parker manage to keep things in correct order. Everyone appreciates the difference in organization that the office makes. Never mind that the office was set up in the choral room over the summer, CHS secretaries did a good iob anyway. Mr. Bryan informs Mrs. Mclntyre of some important phone calls that are to be made today. Office assistants are ffrom left to rightj: Catherine Shephard, Jeff Minor, Wendy Lewis, Renee Inman, Terry Depeyster, Sherice Dunn, Sandra Ray, Tim Roberts, and fseated on the floory Thomas Watlington. Where would any Cummings student be without the school library? The library stocks a wealth of information from fictitious fantasy to factual non- fiction. There is something for all tastes: books, tapes, magazines, and resource materials to help with term papers. The library is also used for receptions and club meetings. When that little bell rings twice, who's being called? The custodians, of course. If you really think about how many times a day that bell rings, then you'll realize how impor- tant the custodians are. If they didn't keep the school up, before long we would have nothing to be proud of. ClubsfSpectrum - 14 142 - CIubsfYearbook O to er Considering only one person signed up for annual staff during spring registration last year, we've certainly come a long way. After getting a late start on ad sales, we finally managed to get our act together three fmaybe twol weeks before our first deadline. Though none of the staff members receive any credit for the class, the work we've put in could easily be compared to that of two or three classes. As l'm sure you've already noticed, flf not, you haven't been looking hard enoughlj this edition of Nulli Secundus is unlike any previous one. Jeff Parker, along with Mike Richardson, designed the radical cover, and Paula McCaskill produced the variety of headlines on all the pages. The publication of the annual could not have been completed without the help of the following people: Mr. Millspaugh for letting the staff raid the Graphics Dept. sixth period every day: the Library, whose typewriter never failed us when ours decided to take a vacation: Mrs. Baumgarner, for allowing 12 restless attendants, 2 grumpy teachers, and 3 tired staff members into her home for homecoming pictures: and to Mrs. Bolden who always seemed to recognize those underclassmen we just couldn't put our finger on.
