French Class At Cummings, the Spanish Department gives the student the opportunity to study spanish through for five years. It offers the preparation for the college bound student who needs a foreign language. It also lets the student learn about the spanish speaking countries and how they live as well as as how they speak. WAS) The French Department of Cummings High School offers students the opportunity of study- ing French through the fifth level. In the French courses grammar and culture are combined with the objective of helping students to under- stand, speak, read and write French as well as to understand and appreciate the French people and their culture. Humanities Class Humanities is an interdisciplinary approach to education. It is an attempt for the student to see man in all the forces that shaped him into a living, thinking, feeling, individual. The courses center on history and literature, which correlates art, music, philosophy, sociology and science. Humanities | is a world cultures study; Humanities Il], American studies, and Humanities Ill focuses on the contemp orary scene. Drama Class 131 Hopefully there will be two semester courses offered in Drama. One will be a study of the drama as literature. It will cover this form from the beginning to the present. The other course will concentrate on theatre arts. Production tech- niques as well as acting will be studied with the goal being the production of a play for an assembly. Drama as a creative outlet is being viewed more and more as a necessary part of a total curriculum, and an appreciation of the theatre can enrich everyone's life.
