THROUGH THE YEARS To Mr. H. F. Gilmore, the founder and only principal of Hueytown High School for thirty-five years, goes much of the credit for the steady growth of our school not only in number of pupils, teachers and buildings, but also in the development of character and citizenship among its students. He always maintained strict discipline; this allowed all the energies of the school to be used for the benefit of the pupils. Yet with this firmness, there was always a respect for individual personality which engendered love and warm friendship in students and faculty alike. Mr. Gilmore has kept close contact with the community. He lived there and served one of the churches as deacon and Sunday School teacher. As a scholar, a builder, and a Christian gentleman. Professor Gilmore has made his place in our history. MR. H. F.
