CLASSES CLASS OF 1922 In May 1922, Hueytown graduated its first class of twenty-five seniors. The school had opened on Februroy 1, 1921, with sixty-six students. Since that time it has grown until this year, 1957-58, there are two hundred and twenty-three in the graduating class, and an enrollment of 1273. Many of these students have won awards when in competition with students of other schools, especially in the fields of science. English, music, athletics, and history. The present graduating class is pictured of right. Some notable Hueytown alumni are-. Bishop George Murray, theologian; Gerard Murray, inventor and business man,- Charles Vines, educotor.- Margaret Gilmore Vines, educator; Henry Miller, mathematician; Paul Ray Wildes, industrialist; Lavern Stevens and Herbert Stockdale, educators. Dr. Edwin Waldrop, Dr. William Pitts, Dr. Zone Gout, medicine; Dr. Charles Parke!, dentist; Dr. Gera d Fievet, veterinarian; John Cochran, coach of Detroit Lions,- and Peggy Mauldin, writer.
