CLASS OF 1930 There were five teachers on the first faculty at Hueyfown in 1921. They were H. F. Gilmore, principal; Miss Cora Waldrop, Miss Elizabeth Lofton, Mr. R. E. Deese, and Mr. W. C. Parsons. The present faculty, at right, consists of the principal and forty-six teachers. In the early years most of the subjects taught were academic, but with the rapid growth of the student body and their needs for vocational and business education, many teachers were added to serve in these fields. In addition to college preparatory courses, such os mathematics, science, and languages, there are now being taught dosses in typing, bookkeeping, shorthand and recordkeeping, The typing classes have grown so rapidly the school now has one hundred and twenty typewriters. Homemaking, shop, and Driver Training serve many. Music in both choral and band has become an important element in the curriculum. Educational TV, art, speech, mechanical drawing and special reading classes, enrich the program. A counselor works full time on guidance for the students. Faculty members use many modern tools to faciliate learning such as a controlled reader and visual aids, which include films ond film strips. A tope recorder is a great asset in some classes. A library containing 6400 volumes and 50 periodicals serves the students. I
