Ifce churoh plays a great part in the lives of all the students of Hueytown. They are oonstantly showing their belief in the church by attending regularly and participating in all of its activities. Several of our students are already planning to become ministers. Those entering this profession are: Billy Gaylor, Bobby Elmore, Gordon KcKinney, and J. P. Vest. All the students taking part in church activities are too nuaerous to mention but here are soae who have done outstanding work in the various churches: Bobbie Dykes, Louis Eberdt, Bobby Elaore, Billy Gaylor, Ruth Hammonds, Patty Herring, Billie Sue Hulsey, Doris Johnson, Edra Smith, Vera Smith, Jimmy Stallings, Jackie Stone, Betty Jo Vines, Jimmie Louise Waldrop, Bob Walker, J. P. West, and Mary Sue Wildes. True religion is the foundation of society, the basis on which all true civil governments rest, and from which power derives its authority, laws their efficacy, and both their sanction. If it once is shaken by contempt, the whole fabric cannot be stable or lasting.—Edmund Burke. Science and religion no more contradict each other than light and electricity.—William Hiram Faulkes. If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering, but if we and our posterity neglect its instruction and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury our glory in profound obscurity.—Daniel Webster. I speak as a man of the world to men of the world, and I say to you: Search the Scriptures. The Bible is the Book of all others to read at all ages and in all conditions of human life; not to be read once or twice or thrice through, and then laid aside; but to be read in srrall portions of one or two chapters a day and never to be omitted by some overwhelming necessity.—John Quincy Adams.
