Cheerleaders Lead Teams to Victoiy This year's cheerleading squads had two new coaches, Karen Grysen and Derh Klein- jans, and Sara Vander Schuur and Carrie Chisholm acred as the varsity squad captains. The J.V. captain was Shannon Bultema, and Susan Zeeff was the freshman captain. The cheerleaders are active in helping with pep assemblies, supporting the football teams by putting posters on the team members' lockers and making posters for the games. Cross Country Leads the Way The Boys Cross Country Team did very well this year with on overall record of 8-6 and o league record of 4- 2, finishing rhird in the league. Ken Wolrers was the outstanding athlete, setting o new junior class record, o new school record, and ending the season by qualifying for the State Cross Country Meet. Ken also mode oil-conference this year, his second time in two years. The boys ream also won their division ot the Zeeland Cross Country Invitational for the first rime in the history of the Hudson- ville Cross Country Team. Another highlight of the season was when Joe Miller set o new Freshman class record with o rime of 18:47. Coach Kosteline soid of the team, Tremendous team improvement in one year! Although there were nor enough girls to form o full girls cross country ream, the girls still participated earnestly in the 3.1 mile run, working to improve their own individual rimes. Lynne Vonde Bunre was the outstanding athlete of the season. Of the girls team, Mr. Kosteline soid, Great effort os individuals!
