Freshman Fcctball Premises Future Success The Freshman Football team finish- ed the season with 4 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie. Despite being a relatively small team in number, the freshmen learned how to compensate with personal desire and a great team ef- fort. Highlights of the season includ- ed the Wayland game which the freshmen won by the score of 30-8, and the last game of the year which every player on the team con- tributed to beat Bodwin 28-0. J V Fcctball Claims Impressive Eeccrd The J.V. Football team did an outstanding job under the coaching of |im Thompson. Their overall record was 8-1 and league record was 6-1. Best performances were by Pat Aten, Troy Duggins and Mark McDuffee. Most improved player was Todd Bialas who was the third string quarterback as a freshman. Todd made several key interceptions and recovered fumbles. Most valuable was Pat Aten who was a two-way player, both running back, middle linebacker and punter. Coach |im Thompson quoted: Play as many as you can as long as they take care of business. He also com- mented, We always played as a team. Nobody ever got down on other players. This fact makes for a fun bunch of young men to work with. Lots of talent also helps and this team has talent. Jim Thompson said that with continued hard work, im- provement, and never losing sight of these team qualities will make them a fine varsity squad.
