Dedication We are proud to dedicate this 1980- 1981 yearbook to Mr. Rahn Bentley, a man who has won the respect and admiration of his colleagues and stu- dents through his dedication to mak- ing school and athletics more fun for everyone. Mr. Bentley has taught at Hudsonville for 12 years. He has ini- tiated many new courses and pro- grams to our curriculum including Chinese History, Mythology, swim- ming class, and the gynastics show that tours the grade schools. He also started programs such summer gym- nastics, tennis, swimming, and the spring sports trips down South. Mr. Bentley has had many achieve- ments throughout his career. He went to South High where he played foot- ball and made the All City, Grand Rapids Press All City, and Wood T.V. All Stars first teams. He also received an All-State Honorable Mention. In boxing, he was a Novice City Champ, Open Heavyweight City Champ, and Open Heavyweight State Champ. He also played first singles in tennis. He then went to Michigan State for four years on a full-ride football scholar- ship. He started 37 games in a row and received the Spartan of the Week award twice. After college, he played football for one season with the Blaz- ers. During his years at Hudsonville, he brought his touch football team to a state championship and a number five position in the nation. Mr. Bent- ley has also brought the attitude of football is fun and we have fun play- ing football on Friday nights. The swimming and tennis teams have earned repeated excellence in their leagues under Mr. Bentley’s coach- ing. We owe a great deal to you Mr. Bentley and this is only one of the small ways we have to express our gratitude and appreciation for all you have done for us. Thanks so much! Dedication 3
