The win put them in second place in the league. Rick Vniggink scored the first touchdown on the third play of the game with a 42-yard run. The Eagles led at the half 22-0. Defenses were strong in the fourth quarter, keeping both teams from scoring. A final score of 22-8 left the homecoming crowd full of spirit. QpVutWe k 79 — Fum FhMmL This year’s Spirit Week was filled with fun and excitement. It began with Kiddies’ Day on Monday. Tuesday was Career Day, and students' dressed up in the costume of their favorite career. Hat and But- ton Day was on Wednesday’s agenda. Next came Clash Day when the halls were filled with colorful and bright outfits. Friday rounded off Spirit Week with Maize and Blue Day and a banana split eating contest. The Juniors “chowed” to an easy victory. Spirit Week winners this year were the Freshmen who showed more spirit than any other class by par- ticipating. Good going. Freshmen! Annie, quit while you’re ahead! This year’s musical production was ANNIE GET YOUR GUN. Kim Kelder played the part of Annie Oakley, a roughneck, back- woods woman with a lot of spunk. Kim played the part exceptionally well. Tim Tacoma por- trayed the part of Frank Butler. Together with the terrific supporting cast, gave us a taste of the old west (With a few variations!). Also playing leading roles were, Kurt Vander- Schuur as Charlie Davenport and Dawn Van- derSchuur as Dolly Tate. For this Musical it was the fine acting plus the great music that equalled the overall exceptional production. Also a special thanks goes to Mr. Nederveld for all the hard work, time, and energy he put into this production. Thanks Nate! I know you are the best shot in the country but does she know that? Again this year, the madrigals kept busy singing many different kinds of songs. In addition to supplying sacred music for some church services in the area, they worked up some clever dance routines while singing some well known pop tunes from the past and present. All the hard work seemed worth it all when it was obvious that their audiences were both enlightened and entertained by the performances. h 22 Madrigal Cltffo Brings W uwooy7b MuSiC' FRONT ROW: Deb Kramer, Melanie Moran, Tammy O’Rear, Pat Williams, Lynne Peterson, Deb Papp. LuAnn Parker. How would you like your class to meet near a herd of buffalo? Next to a geyser? How about on top of a mountain? In the summer of 1978, twenty students from Hudsonville High School held class in the Bad- lands, Black Hills, Devil’s Tower, Yellowstone National Park, and the Tetons. The Summer Science Institute had begun. The class of ’79 ate a macaroni and cheese dinner in a surprise mountain hail storm, and slept in tents that blew down in a thunderstorm. They hiked over fifty miles to experience biology and geofogv in unique set- tings. They filled their minds witn vivid memories that will endure a lifetime. 32 Summer Science AJto At Ttifc CiiCmpUmS Queen Sports 33 Eog(!gs RjusIi TM Successful Secso« FRONT ROW; Dave Van Noord, Scott Veltema.
