Curly McClain is a rowdy, arrogant cowboy who continually tries to court Laurey Williams. Aunt Eller, Laurey’s aunt, many times tries to push Laurey to marry Curly; but Laurey stubbornly refused to be pushed. However, eventually Laurey saw the light and married Curly. The bal- ance of the team is indicated by the 18 points per game scored by the offense and the 6 points per game allowed by the defense. The defense held 5 of the 9 opponents scoreless. The team's record is indicative of the quality of play. Each of the 26 players con- tributed to the success of the team. Perhaps the final game shows best the caliber of the team. Playing a team which had lost only 2 games in the strong White Division and had recorded 4 shut-outs, the Eagles gained a very impressive 29-0 win. The 1976-1977 Hudsonville Eagle wres- tling team was a young and inexperienced group of young men at the beginning of the season. Led by our 3 Seniors, Bob Andre, Roger Brandt and Keith McRoberts we gradually gained in experience and talent. Our team spirit was never damp- ened by defeat and our victories were cherished by all the squad members. During the season the Eagles were led by Tri-captains, Bob Andre, Roger Brandt and Lee John Screnock. Bob's record was 21-7-11, Roger placed second in the con- ference, and Lee John was Conference and District Champion, 3rd in the Regional and State qualified with a record of 30-5. With 18 underclassmen returning plus newcomers, we are looking ahead to 1977-78 with great anticipation. 141 SWIMMING UDSO FIRST ROW: Sheri Lutke. Khris Van Poland. Sue Zylstra. Vicki Bentley.
