eacesi FOREWORD To those who live in never e nding fear Of what may come with every passing year. In blissful ignorance, pause this to say: If I can live the life that comes each day. And bravely face its share of joy and sorrow, Then I will be content to wait, and never fear Tomorrow. 37

CLASS POEM We get up at seven or eight We're very seldom late For POD class at nine In which we surely shine. Blue and White we chose, Also the Red Rose. Our motto e’er will be For God and for our Country. The clock rolls round to ten. We know we should have been In Mr. Chiodo's Lit Class To take a test we did not pass. Now it's just eleven, Tho' it seems to be seven. As we go down the hall To typing class with Mrs. McFall. Then - almost twelve - the bell rings You'd think we all had wings As down the steps we run. Because our day is half done. Tho' it's not yet one, We're in the gym to have some fun. There you never see us walk. As it's Gym Class with Mr. Cheslock. Now we see it's just two And we're feeling very blue. As down the hall we go. It's Chem and Mr. Martino. Oh, joy! It's half past three, We're all jumping with glee, For, you see, now it's time To end the day - also this rhyme. - Rachel Woodward CLASS SONG Tune: Red Sails in the Sunset We're leaving dear Huston, Friends and teachers too; Our school we will cherish Fond memories too. These years at dear Huston, Our teachers have taught Obedience and guidance In which we will walk. Starting, now and onward We'll always be true To God and our Country In all they bid us to do. Blue and White, our colors, Loyalty and pure; For this ever striving Till our life is o'er. - Ruth Fossler WASHINGTON TRIP We went to Washington, D. C., on May 1 and returned on May 3. During our three day tour we visited many historical landmarks. Some of the interesting sights were the White House, the Supreme Court Building, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Washington National Airport, Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian Institute. We lodged at the Cairo Hotel for the little time which was not consumed by sight seeing. A wonderful time was had by all and it will not be easily forgotten by the Class of 1957.
