‘SENIOR CLASS HISTORY” When the Class of 1956 entered Huston Township High School as Freshmen in September 1952, the four years until graduation time seemed to stretch forward unendingly. Looking back, those years have gone quickly. The activities of the class were varied and interesting. Every school day was filled with a balance of hard work and plenty of fun, that made for both mental and social development. The class consisted of twenty-four. On September 28th we were initiated in and considered full fledged high school students able to carry on our own affairs. The first class meeting was held September 4, 1952 and the officers were elected as follows: President ............................... Clarence Shoemaker Vice President Harwood Newell Secretary Helena Gutowski Treasurer Patricia Wallace Class Advisor Mr. Alcorn A.gain we return and this time as Sophomores, a year closer to our goal. We considered ourselves to be Veteran High School Students and able to enforce it over the new comers, the Freshmen. On September 5, 1953 we held our first class meeting as Sophomores and chose the following officers: President Joe Sadowski Vice President....................... Thomas Seduski Secretary De Lare Czajkouski Treasurer Patricia Wallace Our Sophomore year went smoothly with Mr. Taylor as our advisor. We came back for our Junior year eagerly waiting to get our turn at activities and excitement. Our first class meeting of our Junior year was held on September 5, 1954. The following were elected as our presiding officers: President ................................... Patricia Wallace Vice President ................................. Donna Snyder Secretary ................................... Helena Gutowski Treasurer Georgia Challingsworth Class Advisor ........................................... Mr. Lander This year it was our turn to have the annual initiation for the Fresh- men. The initiation was held on October 21, in the gymnasium. The entire class helped in preparing this party. As Juniors we received our class rings of gold as lasting momentums of H. H. S. On April 18, 1955, a fine production of our Junior play, “Susie the Siren” was given. It was a hugh success, and everyone enjoyed his part.

As Juniors we sold stockings and Christmas cards to enlarge oui treasury towards our expenses for the Junior and Senior Banquet which was held on May 14, 1955 at the Golden Yoke Inn. It was an evening en- joyed by everyone with a fine meal, music and stunts. So we left Hustort till another and our last year. When we returned in the fall of 1955, we were the kings and queens of the school. Our first meeting as Seniors was held August 31, 1955, and the elected officers were as follows: President Patricia Wallace Vice President Thomas Seduski Secretary ............................. Georgia Challingsworth Treasurer Helena Gutowski Class Advisor Mr. Taylor We chose the following tokens of individualism for our class: Wide spread renown was achieved by the presentation of our produc- tion oi Mother is a Freshman” on November 13, 1955. It was enjoyed by all and we gained many compliments. One day passed into another and it was time for our never-to be-for- gotten trip to Washington D. C. on April 18th, 19th, and 20th. We saw many historical things as well as history in the making. We returned en- riched and broadened by our experiences and enjoyment of the trip. ' Senior Girls attended a tea at the Logan Hotel in DuBois on May 10. 1 he tea was given by the American Association of University Women. A good time wass enjoyed by all. On May 16th we had our Class Night, with the whole class taking part to make it an entertaining evening. Also on our May calendar was the banquet the Juniors held for us at the Golden Yoke Inn, everyone had a wonderful time. The following were on the Honor Roll: Helena Gutowski Georgia Challingsworth JoAnn Georgino Donna Snyder Then came the long awaited day. On Sunday, May 20, 1956, we marched up the aisle of the gymnasium on one of the most important days of our lives. We received our diplomas with a deep feeling of gratitude, and satisfaction in the goal we had achieved, mingled with regret of leaving the school of our high school days. But, this was not quite the end. We attended the annual school picnic and the Huston Township High School Alumni Banquet on June 2, 1956, at which we were the honored guests. We traveled far and wide to achieve our goal, “Succeed, we can, we will”. To our parents and teachers we leave, our gratitude for starting us on the road of life ready to meet its many opportunities.
