Who is responsible for organizing school dances, getting pep Tests rolling, and raising money for all sorts of worthy causes? None other than the student council, of course. This year the council took a serious turn when they decided to raise money for Roman Zclcke, a former HHS AFS student who as a native Ethiopian, was hit hard by the famine. The student council raised a total of $1400 plus for her and her family. When not working on this, the group put in several dances and generally had a good time. Adviser Mr. Rengstorf noted that “it was fun to work with great kids.” i Student Council 1. This years' Student Council officers arc: Sa- mantha Schultz. Missy Spinks. Jody Brown. Lau- ra Johnson. 2. H-Club AFS H-Club deals with letter winners in athletics or cheerleading. These people socialize with others and raise money through concessions at sports events and selling school activity calendars. The money that they raise is used to help cover the cost of the all-school ath- letic banquet and for social activities. Have you been seeing new faces this year at the High School? They are probably the foreign exchange students, Makiko Oka, and Doris Rieschel. Ma- kiko and Doris are members of AFS. Through AFS, people learn about other counties and their customs. The foreign students who visit bring with them their social ideas and teach us about the schools in their home countries. Also, the AFS club sends American students overseas — this year Jodie Rogers went to Australia and Lisa Flatt will travel next summer. 1. Bob Haugarud sells concessions. 2.
