The 1984 Pepper Festival One of the major social events of the summer was the 1984 Pepper Festival. This event was awaited not only by the North Hudson commu- nity but by the 25 candidates as well. For these select girls, the festivities began with riding in the Hudson Fourth of July parade and ended with the coronation of the 1984-1985 royalty. The delighted winners were third princess Gretchen Schmitt, second princess Jaci Johnson, first princess Karen Waalen, and queen Angie Grabau. “I think this will be one of the best years of my life. I will be meeting a lot of neat people and have a lot of exciting experiences. 1 feel privileged that I was chosen, and I know there were a lot of girls that could of been selected” said Angie Grabau. Her feelings are shared by all who were involved in the Pepper Festival. 14 PEPPER FEST
