Pop Concert . . 10 This year’s Pop Concert was a tre- mendous success. More people at- tended this year than any other. There is much hard work put into learning the music, setting up the gym, organizing the staging, and cleaning up afterward, but it is a concert that is enjoyed by everyone. The Pop Concert contained styles of music from spirituals and folk tunes, to a 1984 radio hit, For the Longest Time, by Billy Joel. Ms. Holmes said that she was very pleased with the response that she received from the audience and her choir members. She says, “This was the best Pop Concert ever.” Al- though this is Mrs. Tjornehoj’s first year here she remarked, “I feel this year’s Pop Concert was an excep- tional one, and it was a thrill for me to be a part of it.” 1. May 22, 1984 Seven-thirty on a Tuesday night, cars parked on the school lawn, the gym packed to the rafters for the hottest show in town — A Mi- chael Jackson concert? Dedication of a new re- sort? NO! It's the com- mencement of the class of 1984. It was an evening of in- sight, advice, and humor as more than 200 stu- dents received their di- plomas and celebrated their years of accom- plishment and friendship. It was standing room only as hundreds of par- ents, friends, and rela- tives came to witness the event.
