Homecoming 1983 This year the Student Council set our ro make rhe 1980 Homecoming o big hir. They did ir! During rhe Powder Puff gome rhe Seniors spirir end power ruled over rhe Juniors. The Seniors won 8 6 School spirir was raised during rhe Homecoming week and Thursdays pep-fesr was no exception The Juniors won rhe Spirir Dell by winning rhe Penny drive, rhe yelling conresr and rhe obsrode course The Sophomores won rhe Tug-o-War ond rhe Posrer Conresr The Seniors won rhe Vorer Balloon ross ond rhe cor comperiron. The Highlighr, however, was when rhe Foorboll ream rook home rhe win over rhe Baldwin Blockhawks. Something Going On The school yeor was filled with many different evenrs: some good, some bod These evenrs hove spurred mony quesrions obour whor will happen ro us next The world seems ro be or wor wirh irself. Among mony other troubles rhere was unrest in Cen- tral America, rhe destruction of o Korean Airliner by Russian pilots, rhe slaughter of U S. marines sta- tioned in Lebanon, and on US. invasion of Grenada These and other evenrs caused anger and dismay throughout rhe world. There were many other more enjoyable evenrs that touched our lives Two of rhe top movies, Floshdance , ond “Stayin' Alive , focused on rhe world of donee Singing ond dancing mode a show in rhe television world, in rhe form of Friday Night Videos. The T V. movie, The Day After caused a big stir across rhe notion, by depicting rhe aftermath of a nudeor holocaust. We also sow rhe crowning of our first black Miss America, Vanessa Williams. And of course we all remember rhe big Christmas roge for little tikes, Cab- bage Parch Dolls. Many new things transpired in Hudson also. These included rhe construction of a new roller-skating rink, soon ro become an entire health club, rhe wonderful success of Special Olympics, wirh rhe help of mony HHS srudenrs, and rhe announcement that Jeff Adams, Mog Lindeberg, Dove Hatch, ond Jeanne Kinney qualified as Nation- al Merit semi-finalists.
