Wlth the help of Coach Harkins and excellent teamwork, the Explorers came out of the season champions of the Suburban League. Approaching our last league game with Manchester, the blue and white had won six out of seven pre vious Suburban League games. A win against Manchester would give us an undisputed title for the cup. This game proved to be very exciting and in the end Hudson emerged victorious. The county tournaments were next on Hudson's list. They participated in the pep rallied, and one of their duties was to assist the varsity cheerleaders in keeping the trophy case clean. Q 53,6 Leading the cheers at the junior high games and arousing en- thusiasm in their pep assemblies, the iunior high cheerleaders dis- played a wealth of school spirit. Led by their captain, Diane Hess, these girls were chosen from the many students who entered the cheerleading class taught by the varsity cheerleaders. The Junior Team won two out of four games, and the Sophomore Team followed with the same number of victories and losses. During the season both teams practiced every Wednesday and Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00. Their coach, Miss Barbara Mathews, drilled the girls in every way possible. When the teams scrimmaged each other, the losing team had to run laps around the gymnasium.
