1972 COACH OF THE YEAR After Coach Tom Saylor graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1964, he began coaching Junior High Football at Hudson. That year his team earned a 6- 0 record. In 1965, he moved to the JV team and in 1966 became Hudson Varsi- ty Head Football Coach. From the be- ginning, he has emphasized TEAMWORK. His first varsity team earned 5 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie. In 1967 the Tigers claimed the first of six consecutive LC AA Championships with a record of 8-1. The 1968 season kept that record, and in 1969 the Tigers had their first unde- feated varsity football season and the first of three consecutive second place state rankings. Since then, they have remained undefeated. In 1972, the team remained undefeated, captured its' 6th LCAA Championship, and became 1972 State Champions. Coach Saylor has received several awards, but this years honor-Michigan Class C Coach of the Year - was the pinnacle. However, Mr. Saylor feels strongly that this honor is not only a personal one but a school and communi- ty honor, for none of it would have been possible had it not been for the remark- able TEAMWORK of all the players, coaches, cheerleaders, students, par- ents, and citizens over the past seven years. Coach Saylor thanks all of his past team members for their outstanding effort and the assistant coaches for their many hours of dedication. Coach Curran has 14 years, Coach Deline; 5 years, Coach Eberhard; 5 years, Coach Schmidt; 1 year, MnMalarney; 2 years, Mr. Tin- ney; 2 years, and Mr. Peltier; 5 years. Mr.'Saylor realizes that all honors and awards that have come to the Tigers have been won by the TEAM with its tremen- dous dedication and hard work. Assured that this valiant Tiger TEAMWORK will continue, he has set the following goals for 1973: to beat the state record of con- secutive wins, to retain our state title, and to bring home our seventh consecu- tive LCAA Championship. 27

Enerson, and Austin, to set a pace for the rest of the team. From the looks of the rest of the team there should be several more success- ful seasons to follow. 29
