Mercer Street The 1954 football team started and ended the season very successfully. Their record was 8 won, 1 lost and they were second in the L. C. A. A.. They had a great defense holding the opponents to only 33 points while the offense scored 193 points. Hudson held four of their opponents scoreless, and four others to one touchdown. While there was only one team to score more one touchdown. The Hudson reserves also had a good season winning while losing. Most of there team consist of freshmans or sophmores. With that sort of youth our next year varsity should be almost as good as the one this year. No matter what sort of players there are next year, coach Finn as usually will turn them into a winning team. Because so, it has developed one of the finest teams in the county and without a track or field. But this year, a track and field have been constructed. Already the sport is picking up in the rest of the school and community. Track is an individual effort and teamwork is not the impor- tant factor, but still the fans have a lot of spirit watching the events. Coach Finn looks over his large capable squad and predicts: Either the cup this season or I've just had a bunch of Loafers. Because of only 2 seniors on the team last year, the entire squad will be back to- gether again. Freshman prospects also should add to victory streaks. Our new coach, Jack Schils has showed his coaching ability in the previous sports this season to guide our team to the top of the league. 42 Junior High Football Left to right: 1st row D. Haight, G.
