As I opened the door I gazed mto the laughing faces of Wayne Bean and Cleo Suddreth now husband and wlfe Wayne I leamed was one of the most promment Wheat ranchers m the West Next to arnve was a member of the cast In the play nn whmch I had gamed recogmtlon Mrs Dallas Jenkms, and of course her husband Dallas, ten years ago her name was Imogene Lovette As I started to go mto tl-e guest room I was startled by a loud boomxng volce argumg wzth Forbes I re- turned to the door to find another prankster Thurston I-Iollar who was tellmg the butler he had lost hls mvltatlon but was stlll gomg to enjoy hlmself a mg wxth hls lady fmend who Just happened to be Betty Sue Ogle This was exactly as I had remembered hlm years ago I told Forbes to see that the guests were comfortable and I would welcome the rest of the guests Just as I had finished tellmg hlm thls I saw a llmousme stop outside and who should allght but Dolho Smxth who was now a Conover model wmnmg beauty contests all over the country After Igreeted her, the musxcxans amved wxth all thenr instruments the band leader was none other than the muslcxan of our class Warren Cloer, hls wife and planlst was the former Betty I-Iarrls They had just passed on when I heard a ternnc screechlng of automobile tlres out side and a moment later Stanley Hall walked rn, by the way Stanley has a troupe of trick and stunt dl'1V0l'5 that tour the country now That boy has speed ln hrs blood H1s wnfe Nathalee saxd she warned constantly about hxs safety Then came the xdol of every baseball fan m the nation that master mound man Bugs Cloer accompanied by hls wxfe, the former Phylhs Cannon As I remember Phylhs was qulte ood m sports herself The next guests to be greeted were the mseparables of our school days, Dons Woods and C me Mae Ford who were the same way worlnng as secretanes ln adgoxmng ofnces Aa I turned to look ln on the gang some one clasped thexr hands over my eyes and sald Guess who I couldn t recogmze the gruff voxce so I gave up and when Isaw who It was I nearly famted Leonard McCall had growm mto one of the largest men I had ever seen and made qulte a name for himself as a boxer He lntroduced me to his wife whom I recognized as the former Beulah Smlth, who was a nurse now Then the brams an-wed R V Moss and Constance Annas They were marned and had reared two httle Em stxens Next two of the most exquxsxte dresses I have ever seen walked up and m them were the acclaxmed deslgn ers Mary Frances Annas and Mxldred Adkms I was astonxshed to see Wa e Pennell marrled and to none other than that quxet reserved gxrl Dovle Mxkeal The soclafly promment couple r and Mrs Donald Barnes made their appearance ln all thexr splendor What a paxr they had been m 50 She was then Georgza lee Hatley A telegram was delxvered to me and xt contamed some of the worst news I have ever received Jun Barnwell and hrs wxfe Clara were kept at home because thelr chxld was sxck I was keenly dlsappomted as I had hoped for everyone to be there Next came the cattle baron, Kelly Crump, accompamed by hrs cute llttle spouse Patsy that guy was born lucky Followmg them was that famous dance team the Twxnk' Toes whlch had been good ten years 880 The troupe consxsted of Clayton Buckner Hershel Helderman and Fred Lewls, wxth thelr vlvaclous partners and future WIVQS-BS I knew them, Hazel Harrold Patty Cauble and Ruby Glbson respectwely Thmgs were starting to pop mslde so Idxverted my attentlon to the group singing a song of our school days, Mule Tram I couldn t make out the people dolng the slnglng they must have gone by me though I hadn t seen them Then they turned toward me and Isaw then It was the Hudson Canaries , Shirley Soots, Ruby Pritchard, and Dorothy Prestwood what gzrls they were' l declded to get thmgs started so I went over to the mxke and called for everyone s attentuon I had Just sald Klds when some guy Jumps out of his seat screammg I saw h m preparing to lower the boom on a guy behmd hlm when I saxd Walt a mmute bovs what seems to be the trouble The fellow that was using the lctur esque language tumed out to be none other than Bob Suddreth Bob was gomg to slt down wlth his wife, neva, when some cu .mt had sllpped a thumb tack ln h1s chaxr Boy' d d that brmg back pamful ' memorles Fxrst I announced that we would have an act we were crazy about m school at our talent shows, no one of course knew what I was talkmg about but the-y were all guessmg when out came that beautlful queen of the roller skates Toye Mae Cody Cody was the name she used when performmg but her actual name was W1lson Lltle Ray sure had the luck I notlced a group over by the telephone so I ambled over and what do you thmk was gomg on That man of brawn Camuel Houck, was showxng the fellows how to r1p a New York phone directory ln hah with has hands.
