The Youth Advisory Council lYACl has been busier this year than ever before. With a campus wide membership of llO YAC'S, the club has had a most productive year. Their proiects have included a school wide Christmas party with refreshments and carols, decorating a Christmas tree in the cafeteria, attending many con- ventions and painting the cafeteria. The YAC'S have also gotten an a la' carte line and a salad bar put in the snack bar. The YAC'S are also going to host the Southwestern Regional convention which will be held on a dude ranch in November. Organizations - p. 159 Future Farmers of America The Future Farmers of America started their year off with freshman orientation along with a hamburger supper. As the year progressed Mr. Daniel and Mr. Stephenson, along with student teachers, helped students better understand farming skills in the 80's. From day one of this year students began preparing show exhibits for the 1980 Annual Livestock Show. March l3, finally arrived and this year they had a grand champion steer. Brian Stephenson, sophomore, had a Other Cross' classed steer which won lst in his class and won lst over all steers. The clubs banquet was held May 19, in the cafeteria and was catered by Wagon Wheel Bar-B-Que. Distributive Education Clubs of America - DECA is a club that prepares students for marketing and distribution leadership. The club was very active this year by sponsoring a do-nut eat- ing contest to kick off the club's do-nut sales. The Christmas parade, and Area Il and State contest were several of the other DECA activities. The Employee-Employer ban- quet was held April 21, at Ange- lina College. During the fall they attended several parades. One of these was the Corrigan-Camden parade in Corrigan. The next was in Chester, where they won first place. Their last parade was the Lufkin Christmas parade. Highlighting this year was the playing for the Hudson Basket- ball games. They attended all of the games and enjoyed the enthusiasm of the crowd while playing. Early this spring they began work on music for contests. During the Christmas holidays, the group went to nursing homes and told the story of Jesus' birth. After the scripture reading, songs were sung. During the last part of school each denomination represented in the club had one week in which they could decorate the bulletin board with things about their church. To kick off the yearbook sales the staff presented a skit of the 50's. They also raised money with a picture sale and by giving students the opportunity to have their reflection pictures made.
