Mr. Lewis was first appointed to fill a vacancy in 1929 and, later in the same year, was elected to the position. For fifteen years, he has very capably served as president of the Board. During the past twenty-five years, enrollment in our public schools has almost doubled. With the excellent cooperation of Mr. Lewis and Mr. King, the Board has formulated plans to meet the growing need for additional schools.

He was a friend with whom we could talk over school problems at any time. He was never too busy to take a moment to get to the source of our problems and to lighten their seemingly insolvability with an un- derstanding word or suggestion. Now we realize how fortunate we were to have had Mr. Dearlove for our prin- cipal .
