His inspiration, patience, and understanding helped us through the trials and tribulations of our Junior year. No matter to what part of the globe Lieutenant Bogart may travel, we can assure him that those unpredictable youngsters to whom he taught American History back in Room 10 will never forget him. With love and esteem, we humbly dedicate our 1952 BOOK of MEMORIES to Lieutenant Howard Bogart. We wish to thank Miss Lucy Dwyer, our Advisor, and the members for a very suc- cessful and memorable year in our Hi-Y. Above: Look pretty, boys. Initiation does have its bitter moments. Our Boysâ Hi-Y indeed had a successful year. By means of hard work, the members raised enough money to give a $50 and a $25 scholar- ship plus a trophy to the three Seniors who were voted these awards. This was the first year Boysâ Hi-Y was able to make the three awards. It was the capable leadership of Presi- dent Frank O'Neil and the helpful advice of Mr. Anthony Luciano that made Boysâ Hi-Y a success. THE SEASON Our football warriors romped to a good season record, winning three, losing two, and playing the Flying Forts to a 6-6 deadlock. Led by quarterback Alex Vish- neowski, our speedy backfieid turned in an impressive performance. Boo Ferris, Greenie half-back, held the record for the longest run in Conference play, while Jimmy Vamvalis's talented toe kept him up among the best in the area. In the opening game of the season, our Green Wave showed our might as we turned back a much larger Mechanicville squad, 26-6. Good line play by Pete Poulos, Tom Varmette, and Don Campbell were im- portant factors in the Greeniesâ initial win. The following Saturday, our Greenies dropped a 12-0 decision to Whitehall but broke back into the win column with an impressive 21-7 win over the Golden Horde of Granville. We copped our second straight as we downed Saint Mary's, 26-1}. Glens Falls trimmed us in the big game of the season, 8-7, in a heart- breaking match. The season's finale was a 6-6 tie with our traditional foes. Fort Edward. ' (97 â ⢠OUR VARSITYâKneeling, left to right: Co-Captains Alex Vishneowski and Jim Vamvalis. Although we were considerably lacking in height, our aggressive play and constant drive, both defensively and offensively, brought us into the sectional play-offs. Several members of our graduating class served on our ball club. Alex Vishneowski and Jimmy Vamvalis, our back courtmen, both showed their ability and drive as they came through in tight spots for our Green and White forces. Boo Ferris, lanky center, finished the season in a blaze of glory, using his 6â 2â frame to advantage under the boards. Leon Dunn, holder of the school's new scoring mark, and Don Runkle rounded out the starting group. Our Greenie reserve list included Bill Van Herpe, Bruce Inglee, Don Campbell, Don Suprenant, and Harry Ward, all of whom served well in relief roles for the Green Wave. â rast two. ⢠Ferris scores p She Goes.
