'Z tcC CU. S. This first yearbook for the new Hudson’s Bay High School will in years to come provide you with many memories of your first year as a student body. No doubt, the high-light of your school experience was the opportunity to observe the opening day’s ceremonies February 3, of this year. I shall never forget it. When your Student Body President cut the ribbon and called your attention to the significance of the event, she launched into existence what is certain to become one of this state’s outstanding high schools. Your student leaders can look back with a sense of real accomplishment. Think of the many things they did — selected your school colors, decided upon a mascot, chose names for your paper, and this yearbook, formulated a student body constitution, set up a Safety Commission, which received the commendation of community leaders. These are a few of the many achievements! We are well on our way. With your continued support HBHS will have a long and proud history. Donald E. Fowler CONSTRUCTION! The process of building, shaping, form- ing. We of Hudson’s Bay are deeply involved in that process. Each day about the building we notice skilled workmen en- gaged in building, shaping, forming. We have watched the men lay the floor in the gymnasium, and we have seen the sidewalks go in. Each week marks the completion of one project and the beginning of another. There is another phase of CONSTRUCTION in which you of HBHS are active participants. You are building in a spiritual sense. You are establishing traditions and ideals. The results of your efforts will be manifested in your concern for your school and its good name, in the care you take of your build- ing, in your attitudes towards your homes and your community. As you assume your responsibility in this phase of the CON- STRUCTION, be determined in your goals, and true to your ideals. Let this motto be your guide: Esse quam videri. To be rather than to seem. Catherine Harty Our new high school is a beautiful group of structures. The site is a historical one that should be the envy of other schools. The job ahead is to build the educational advances to match both site and buildings. This will fake work, time and patience. Along with educational advances goes the making of tra- ditions. In our attempt to mold students into useful citizens and give our future leaders the necessary tools to work with, we shall need the co-operation of all. If is hoped that everyone will contribute his share in this plan. Many new phases of teaching are in evidence that eventu- ally will replace present methods. Changes and progress are slow to establish themselves in education. However, with the advent of new techniques, it seems as though modern inven- tion will dictate new methods that we shall soon experience in our new school. This is just one evidence that our progress is going to go on and on. Roy Sandberg
