MASS PIHIPHHIY As we approach the first landing of this long flight of stairs we see the seniors of 1961 on various steps. First, we see Tommy Wilson an engineer for United Steel Company, has just returned from England. Engineers must be making good money these days. He built the first bridge across the Atlantic Ocean. Fleeta Preston, has financial troubles. As owner of the Preston Printing Co. , she has lost millions with the destruct- ion of school books. Billy White, a well-knovsm apple packer is appearing on a new T. V. series, Keep Packing. While watching a new T .V. program, Famous Quotations, whom should I see but Jeannette Overstreet as hostess. Linda Newman has just recently purchased a yacht. She plans to spend several months abroad to search for her one and only. Alice Mayhew has just returned from Michigan where she attended an Alder Sewing Machine Convention with her hus- band. Mary Laughon, a professor at Madison College, has just recently been appointed head of the Bookkeeping Department. Jean Krantz is now operating model agencies all over America. She is doing well with figures, I hear. She is still looking for her one and only. Bobby Johnson is the. Republican representative from Alaska. He is a happily married man and seems to enjoy the cool indifference of the Democrats. Douglas Howell has won the American Farmer Award for being outstanding farmer, citizen, and father. Shelby Goadis doing fine with her acting, she will appear on Broadway next week in the famed, A Midsummer Nights Dream by William Shakespeare. Janet Ferguson has just returned froma tour of the world. She owns jelly factories in all parts of the U.S. as well as abroad. Nolan Crowder has just returned from a tour of the U.S. His hobby is playing baseball for the Hawaii Surfboarder's team. Emily Crouch is doing fine as the private secretary for the Arnold Used Car Lot. She and her husband travel everywhere together and buy used cars. Joyce Ayers is happily married and is going to tour the U. S. with her husband to survey new highway locations. Betty Austin, a professor at Lynchburg College, has re- ceived the most outstanding award for her tireless efforts to Lmnerve the students. Our first landing has come to an end, and our steps are getting higher. So, we must start planning for the future and hope that we will do the best thing. I3

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Senior Class of Huddleston High School, being of unsound mind and disintegrating memory after four strenuous years, do hereby make this our last will and testament. To the faculty we leave our deepest sympathy for the trouble we have caused them and hope that in years to come they will recover. To Mr. Darnell, the Senior Class of 1961 just leaves. We know he will be happy now. I, Bobby Johnson, do will bus no. 20 to anyone crazy enough to put up with the mental cases who ride it. I, Linda Newman, do will my ability to grow tall to Shelby Perdue. I, Bettie Austin, will my safe driving habits to Linda Preston in hopes that she will put them to good use. I, Nolan Crowder, will my map of Smith Mountain and my little black book to William Wills. I, Joyce Ayers, do will my conceited ways to Nancy Johnson. I, Fleeta Preston, will my basketball talent, my love for a good time and fast cars to Carolyn Hancock. I, Emily Crouch, do will my ability to get a ticket for driving without a permit to any SUCKER who dares try it. I, Tommy Wilson, will my love for cars, rock n' roll music, and girls to anyone who wants a good time. I, Janet Ferguson, do will my ability to get ahead in life to any girl who can try it and be successful. I, Mary Laughon, will my short height to anyone who enjoys getting trampled. I, Alice Mayhew, will my ability to make the most of every situation, good or bad to all the teachers. I, Billy White, will my quiet ways to P. W. Morgan. I, Jeannette Overstreet, will my aches and pains received in playing basketball to anyone who enjoys going to the doctor. I, Shelby Goad, will my ability to play 10 yr. olds to Brenda Plymale. I, Douglas Howell, will my ability to make good marks in history to Linda Creasey. I, Jean Krantz, have received nothing so I leave nothing. 15
