Calendar SEPTEMBER 1-School opens for 1949 with over 100 pupils enrolled. 2-G.A.A. has its first meeting with their new sponsor, Miss Honchell. 8-Mr. Brink organizes Girls' Chorus. 15-Election of Freshman class officers. They are as follows: Joyce Sanders, Presidentg Louis Sprehre, Vice Presidentg David Spenner, Secretary-Treasurer. 15-Election of Sophomore class officers: They are as follows: Norman Kahre, Presidentg Maurice Garnholz, Vice Presidentg Ruth Koelling, Secretary-Treasurer. 23-Dr. Plassman gave all the Freshmen a T.B. patch test. 23-Freshmen initiation party. 30-First edition of the Broadcast is published. OCTOBER 1-G.A.A. hay ride. 12-Southwestern Division Teachers' Workshop at Carlyle. 14-End of First Six Weeks. 20-21-County Teachers' Institute at Nashville. Students received another vacation. 30-High School Halloween Party. NOVEMBER 1 7-11-American Education Week. 8-It is time again for basketballg Woodlawn defeats our High School team with a score of 30-13. 10-Thunderbolts roar at the first home game of the season. High School defeats St. Dominic 27-22g grades defeat Shanafelt 25-10. 11-Armistice Day, no school. 16-The grades win over Iuka by four points. 18-Love Grade School is defeated in the third game of the season by a score of 32-19. 23-Somethings wrong somewhere. Kell beat the grade team 40-30. 27-Thanksgiving vacation. 29--Antiock Grade School outlasted our boys 35-23. DECEMBER 1-Hurray! Both the High School and the Grade School teams were victorious over Okawville's teams with the scores of 45-14 and 29-12 respectively. 2-Our grade team lost to Young 23-20. 6-Vernon made it a double victory as they beat our grades 43-18 711-Iigh Eghool wins fourth game of the season by defeating Coulter- vi e 51- . Calendar 9-Our luck is still with us. Thunderbolts win over Breese High School with a 34-23 score. 12-Grade School Thunderbolts slaughter Oakdale 46-24. 13-Carlyle Indians defeated our team by a score of 56-34. 14-Oil Belt Conference at Shanafelt. We lost 8-7. 19-Grades went to Nashville and won 27-18. 20-Happy day. High School won again over St. Dominic throwing them for a 28-15 loss. 21-The school presents its annual Christmas Program. 22-Christmas Vacation begins. JANUARY 3-Vacation ends and school resumes. 4-We let Woodlawn defeat us again 48-35. 10-This is terrible. Young defeats the Grade School team for the second time with a 32-27 score. 11-Three cheers for the Thunderbolts for their 61-47 score over Coulterville. 12-Breese High School gets ahead of us in the last quarter of the game finishing with a score of 35-31. 17-Kell defeats us on our own floor 61-27. 18-Another victory over Waltonville for our High School 62-25. 20-First Semester ends. 24-We are defeated by Vernon grades 43-18. 27-Hiigh School suffers another loss, this time to Odin. Final score 76-3 . 31-Grade team plays Nashville and wins 33-25. 31-High School plays Carlyle and loses 39-20. FEBRUARY 3-Our Thunderbolts defeat Oakdale grades 46-24, while Odin defeats High School boys 49-38. 7-High School Thunderbolts vs Waltonville. We Win 67-35. 13-Thunderbolts were licked by Millsprairie 52-36. 16-We defeat Okawville in the last home game of the season with the score of 58-10. 22-New Baden beat us 55-30 in the District Tournament at Breese. MARCH 3-Grade School plays the last game in year with Okawville.
