Friday, Pep Club painted up the football team as Injuns, fol- lowed by a Pep Rally held down- town. There the class floats were judged, giving the first place title to the Junior class. Friday night the Hoxie Indians were defeated by the Saint Fran- cis Indians during the last ten Tom’s mind is in other places. seconds, making a final score of 7-0. During halftime ceremo- nies, Donna Roster and Rick Shipley were crowned King and Queen. Stuco sponsored the Homecoming dance held after the game in the student room. Music was provided by a disc- jockey from KAYS radio. Saturday morning the parade was held on Main Street, carry- ing out the Bicentennial theme. Alumni Program was Saturday evening in the high school gym. Pep Band provided music at the Bonfire. Is that you, Karen? Hoxie Indians bring down a Sainty man. Seniors took command at Pep Rally. Students enjoyed dancing at the Home- coming dance. 15 Snoball Royalty Keith Kranna witter and Kelly Allen were attendants. Kathy Krannawitter and Don Schiltz were King and Queen. Night Machine provided the music. The crowd enjoys refreshments in the lobby. Royalty dance. Sponsors keep an eye on the crowd. Attendants observe crowning. Stuco’s decorations set a winter atmosphere. 17 Twirp Queen Pam and King Keith. Jukebox Jive My name is Nicky. These are my lovedolls! The gang on the ole '57. Twirp Day Friday, March 25, was Twirp Day at Hoxie High School. Spon- sored by F.F.A., F.H.A., and Kayettes, the theme for the day was the Fifties.” Many students and faculty had a lot of fun car- rying out the theme by greasing their hair back like the Fonz, rolling their jeans up, and wear- ing bobby socks or poodle skirts. The Twirp Dance was held in the gym that night. Music was provided by disc jockey Tom Nichols, from KNBI radio. The Twirp King Keith Kennedy, and Queen Pam Best were crowned at the dance along with faculty King Richard Brook and Queen Judy Bink. Everyone liked the music and really enjoyed the dance. 'Tyrone” has a girlfriend. All the boys like Charlene. Everyone enjoys dancing. 18 Spring Tea Ladies from the LTCU were guests at the Tea. Lucille Zodrow models the outfit she made. Pop’s Choir sang for the entertainment. The presidents make speeches for the last time. Senior Melanie Cooper receives her rose. Deb Robinson concentrates on modeling. At last, it's over! 21 Prom The 1977 Junior-Senior Prom was held April 22, beginning with dinner at the Elks Lodge at 7:00 p.m. Pam Best played the piano during the dinner while the sophomores served. After the dinner a dance was held at the high school gym. The music was provided by Magic. The theme this year was A Touch of Spring. The Junior class was recog- nized by the high school students and faculty for the fine job they did on the Prom. The waterfall attracted a lot of attention. Prom Royalty for 1977 was Queen Jan Kennedy and King Ross Cressler. Prom servers were: FRONT ROW: Virginia Zodrow, Laura Richmeier. Tina Ewers, Janice Koster, Joan Schamberger. Ken Eland was Best Experienced Deb‘', - « Steve Dietz was Best Novice Debater. 27 Mejico On May 26, 1976, 20 HHS stu- dents and five sponsors were off to Mexico in a bus. On this trip the group experienced a plane ride from Mexico City to Oax- aco. While there they enjoyed the ruins at Monte Alban, the Tule Tree and black pottery. They stayed in the finest hotel in Acapulco, the Acapulco Prin- cess. They saw the cliff divers and swam in the Pacific Ocean. The bus broke down in the little town of Eguall which had no hotels or motels, so they slept in a Dodge Garage. In Mexico City they were not able to see the bull fights but did experience some- thing they never could back home, an earthquake. Other places they visited were Monter- rey, Ciudad Valleys, Taxco, Chilpancingo, and Saltillo. On June 11, they were happy to be back in Hoxie. Looking ai the black pottery made by hand in Oaxaca. B-Team cheerleaders give it all they’ve got. 53 Kayettes Reach Out Kayettes broadened the 1976- 77 year with new activities. The Kayettes kicked the year off by raising $632.00 for the Kidney Foundation by selling tootsie roll banks. This resulted in the larg- est donation ever presented by the Kayette club. During Christ- mas, Kayettes bought socks for the children at the Cookson Hills home and entertained the pre- school by dressing up as Santa's elves. Other activites for the year were Back to School Dance, greenery orders, dis- tributed political literature for Senator Tillotson, gave plant to LTCU, made Christmas stockings for babies bom in December, and program and film by the Kidney Foundation. Russ Stephens was second med- alist once, third medalist twice, fifth twice, second at regional and third for eight at state. Ken Eland was fourth medalist three times and took first at regional.
