DEBATE SQUAD 4th IN STATE For only the second time in HHS history, the Debate Squad went to State this year. A lot of hard work was involved all season for the debaters and Benny Rosell, their coach. But it all proved worthwhile, as seen through the six trophies from invitational tournaments, the first- place Regional plaque, and their high placement at State competition. The four seniors of the squad who debated at Regional and State were Janeece Breit and Elaine Wegman on the negative side; and Bonni Hook and Howard Karnes on the affirmative side. All 4 years Dave went out for basketball. Jean has been out for volleyball both her Freshman and Sophomore years. Jean did an outstanding job in track. Athlete of the year, Jean Haffner. Andy Prickett William Andrew Prickett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Prickett, was born September 24, 1955 and departed his life on March 24, 1974. Andy, who was 1 8 years old, was killed in an early Sunday morning car accident east of Salina, Kansas. Andy contributed much to Hoxie High. In 1973, he was State Wres- tling Champ at 1 38 lbs. He was out for football and wrestling all four years and helped his teams as best he could. He was a member of the golf team his freshman and senior years. After graduation from HHS, Andy attended Salina Vo. Tech. School, majoring in diesel mechanics until his death. In Memory Of Colleen Bielser Colleen Bielser, a 1973 HHS graduate, died Saturday morning July 14, 1973. Colleen, the 17 year old daughter of Mrs. R. E. Bielser, died from a drug called Phencycli- dine Hydrochloride (PCP). During her high school years, Col- leen was active in Kayettes all four years. She was a member of Pep Club and Drill Team her Sophomore and Junior years. Colleen loved life and her family, and her friends always came first. Russell Cressler Russell Cressler suffered fatal injuries in a farm accident at the Cressler farm northeast of Hoxie on July 26, 1972 at the age of 16. Russell Elvin Cressler was born June 23, 1956 to Larry and Irene Cressler. He was an active 4-H mem- ber for eight years. Russell was an honor student throughout his school years. He was active in football and wrestling in junior high school.
