Jones. ,4 '6frz,v,vc'l!rz Every day when sixth period rolls around, the sixty- two members of the A'cappella choir can be seen l I scrambling toward room l l3 in a race with the final M'S- P0lleYf 'he Ve'Y Capable d eC'0' of 'he A COP' bell. Shortly thereafter those some sixty-two people are heard in song. Another hour of vocal practice has begun, - The members of this musically-minded group enjoy singing, whether for the entertainment of others or merely for their own pleasure. The singers and their blue robes are a common sight at assemblies and concerts throughout the school year. Each fall the A'cappella presents an operetta. This year's production, Tune ln, a musical comedy, was an outstanding success. Soon after the annual operetta, the group begins preparation for the Thanksgiving and Christmas programs. The Music Boosters' candy sale occurs just a few short weeks before the district music con- test in which Howland has done very well. After the feverish rehearsals for the contest are over, there is a short lull. The schedule shows that an exchange concert arranged with Brookfield is fast approach- ing, and work begins anew. Finally, the A'cappella closes out its year of activi- ties with its performance at the graduation cere- monies. pella, leads the group in a song during one of their daily 6th period practices.

They sing at private social events, assemblies, and graduation. Each spring they enter into competition with similar groups from other Northeastern Ohio schools. Under the direction of Mrs. Polley, they have proven to be a talented group over the years. This year's girls are following in the footsteps of their predecessors. Ninth Grade Cfhrfrus Under the direction ot Mrs. Polley, our ninth grade chorus is more or less a stepping stone to the A'Cappella. Members are selected for their fine voices and their ability to blend well. The group meets regularly and sings for many school programs.
