Ofhcc' Aides An office is a busy place with many things to be done. ln our offices, the secretaries are relieved of many little jobs by the office aides. ln the main office they sort mail, sell supplies, make change, and run errands. The aides in the junior high office have these same duties in addition to collecting attend- ance slips and counting tax stamps. These girls are obtaining valuable secretarial ex- perience by actuallv performing these duties. Visual ,flidfs Educators have found that tilms and record- ings are often a valuable aid to instruction. They can bring events that happen far away or in times past into the presence of the stu- dents. At Howland there are always visual aides operators available. These students who are under the direction of Mr. lrwin are trained in the use of movie projectors, tape recorders, record players, and the opaque pro- jector. They are a busy group, showing movies thirty to forty times per week. Bottom Row: Mr. Irwin, Jack Berry, Art Davis, Jack Ranck, Shirley Taylor, Ted Vannelli, George Winans, Melvin Balciar. Their jobs are to connect Mr. Kepner and Mr. Barrick with the various rooms in the building and to make announcements when necessary. One advantage of working in the control room rather than being in a study hall is that the operators may listen to the radio when not doing their other jobs. Nurses Aides The staff of nurses's aides is composed of girls who are mem- bers of F.N.A. They work in pairs and are in charge of the nurse's office while the school nurse, Mrs, Cowell, is out of the build- ing. Their duties include treating students who have minor ail- ments. These girls work in shifts so that there are at least two students on duty at all times. Bottom Row: Sue Vannelli, Barbara Tomlin, Martha Velican, Pat Mitchell, Barbara Crincic, JoAnne DiEugenio.
