Girls at Howland who are preparing for a nursing career have the opportunity to learn much prac- tical knowledge before entering the field. Leading this group this year are Janet Weita, President, Karen Hermi- son, Vice-President, Jo Ann DiEugenio, Secretary, Sue Vannelli, Treasurer, and Shirley Taylor, reporter. Besides learning about nursing, the girls in F,N.A. had a good-will project this year. At Christmas time they packed baskets of food for needy families. Future Nurses know that there is no better preparation for the uture than to be well-grounded in their chosen L' fIelCl. Our school nurse, Mrs. Cowell, has as one of her many duties the treating of minor injuries that the students have somehow incurred.

Of rfmarrvuf Eiufure Crackers The Future Teachers of America is a nation- wide organization set up to interest and inform stu- dents planning to make teaching their profession. This year the F.T.A. of Howland has heard many interesting representatives from various colleges and universities. Former Howland F.T.A. ers have also spoken at meetings. The very educational film A Desk for Billie was shown at another meeting. Annual projects include hostessing on career day, preparing a charity project over Christmas, ini- tiation of new members, and several special meetings, such as a party on Christmas. The special project for this year was a fund rais- ing campaign to provide for scholarship assistance to a senior F.T.A, member. Organization for the past year has been in the hands of the officers: Ronnie Kapscos, President, Judie Craig, Vice-Presidentj Lindo Curtorillo, Secre- tary, and Jean Smith, Treasurer.
