,flssisfaat Priaripal Mr. .Mark 16. l6'arrirk Mr. Mark R. Barrick has for a long time been a well-known and well-liked member of the teaching and adminis- trative staff at Howland. He came here in 1947 as a teacher of science, algebra and general business. When the Junior High wing was completed in 1957, he was given a new office and a new title--that of Assistant Prin- cipal. Mr. Barrick was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and attended California State Teachers' College for a time. He completed his B.S. at Kent State Uni- versity where he later received a Mas- ter's degree in Education. Priarryral flflf. arraaa D. Kraaar Mr. Norman D. Kepner is the man who, as Principal, provides a link be- tween faculty, parents, and students at Howland High School. He has a background of education and experi- ence plus the personality to enable him to handle his position well. He began his educational career in Penn- sylvania and came to Howland in 1951 to serve as Assistant Principal. ln 1953, upon the death of the former Principal, he was elevated to his pres- ent position. Mr. Kepner attended Grove City Col- lege in Pennsylvania for two years, then, Ohio University where he re- ceived his B.S. degree. Since then he has done work at the University of Pittsburgh to earn an M.S. degree. 105

Lemasters is the dignified gentleman who carries well the great responsibility of supervising the How- land school system. Prior to his ap- pointment to this position in l945, he taught in Portage and Trumbull Coun- ty schools, then came to Howland in I933. At that time he was hired as Principal of Bolindale School. After graduation from Ravenna Town- ship High School, Mr. Lemasters at- tended Akron University. He received his B.S. degree from Ohio State, M.S. from the University of Pittsburgh, and has done additional post-graduate work at Youngstown University and Kent State. ln his present capacity, Mr. Lemasters acts as the coordinating bond between the Board of Education and the How- land school system.
