Taylor, pastor ofthe How- land Community Church. Although Reverend Taylor has been busy with his ministerial duties, which this year included the erec- tion ofthe new church, and his social work as Presi- dent of the Trumbull County Mental Health Associa- tion, he has always been glad to be of service to students of Howland whenever called upon. We feel that he has increased our chances of growing up to be better individuals by his striving to make Howland a better place in which to live. i 11 if Q- 111. ' W emo 'roam on-no funnmxs aj. . Thru the years she has watched it grow from one lunchroom in the grade school to bigger and better cafeterias in Morgandale, Bolindale, and l-lowland's new high school. Never in these years has Mrs. Baker failed to plan a Nutritious, tasty menu. She and her co-workers have always been on hand for any spe- cial school functions such as luncheons and banquets. This year marks the end of Mrs. Baker's many years of service. We will miss her smiling face and spotless white uniform in our cafeteria, but we seniors espe- cially will always remember her when we think of our days at Howland for she is as much a part of us as the school itself. .,.,,,..,,,,.,-Q Annan cours s unocmf ,i M jj MRS. This was the first time that all music groups had received a one rating. As a result they were eligible to participate in the state contest. This con- test was held at Otterbein College near Columbus on April 29. The l79 students and adults, Mrs. Mary Polley, A' Cappella and Girls' Glee Club director, Mr. Robert Alexander, band directory and Mr. Frank Thomas, associate band director arrived by bus and automobile at the college late Saturday morning. After participating in the contests, the groups visited the small town until time to leave for the Deshler- Hilton Hotel in Columbus. The cost ofthe trip was approximately STQOO. The Band Boosters in co-opera- tion with the music departments raised the necessary funds by sponsoring a record hop, car wash, and bake sale. Many contributions were received as well. The A'Cappella and band perform in many school programs and assemblies during the year. Pictured onthe opposite page are these groups during their participation in the sixth annual Christmas Festival, December 16, 1955.
