The 1960 TORCH is dedicated to our beloved Mr Guy Jameson yearbook advisor at Howell hlgh school from 1956 to 1959 His death last autumn brought sorrow to all of us Mr Jameson s way of living his devotion to duty his dedication to Highlanders as a coach and teacher and his love of perfection will al ways be a goal for each of us to strive for It is hoped that each succeeding yearbook staff will realize the responsibility of the TORCH S honor its continual climb toward perfection based on the national 8W8ld winning TORCH published by Mr J ln 1959 With these things in mind we proudly dedlcat this book in fond memory of hum '21 dmc ? M1 Guy H Jameson hioughout the lnstoiv of the TORCHand Its fore iunnei, the SCROLL the main function behind ycarbook publication has been the same This function has revolvcd aiound one goal the yearbook s achievement to sei ve its school and community as a memoiy book Oui yearbook can be described as ou1 school s famllv album In p1 evious years, yearbooks were memory albums for seniors only 'lo boost sales along with mtei est among students, the book was overhauled to its present form the entire history of one year of school life The 1960 TORCH staff has tiled to compile between the two covers of this book every significant event which took place dui mg the past school yeai Latei in the summer, a supple ment which completes this book will be mailed to our subscribers At Howell high, another function of the TORCH is to promote a good relationship between the school and the community. We hope to give outsiders a true and compre- hensive picture of what our school is trying to accomplish in the role of democracy. If we can achieve this goal, the book will be well worth its purpose. The TORCH staff hopes this book will live beyond its publication year and continually increase m value to the owner. Our goal is to provide the student body with the finest, worthiest book within our means.
