Introduction A yearbook can fulfill many purposes to its readers. It may be a collection place for autographsg a memory book of school days, a history of all school activitiesgor an account of the happenings of the school and community The 1957 TORCH does all of these things. Through the pages of our book we have tried to give the reader a glimpse of Howell as a growing city, presenting many of the reasons why we are proud of Howell as a place to live, go to church, work, shop, learn and play. Through our high school days we are most concerned about the opportunities offered us at Howell High School. In the EDUCATION section you will find familiar class- room scenes along with the many teachers, administra tors custodians, cooks and bus drivers that help make our school more meaningful An important aspect of school life IS learning to get along with our classmates and teachers and to improve ourselves on a social level The many extra curricular ACTIVITIES give us an opportunity to Join clubs and or ganizations of our own choosing, and to work together to better our school Our pride in our school IS emphasized in our many athletic teams because we can be sure that when a team takes the field wearing the GREEN and GOLD of Howell, will uphold the tradition of good sportsmanship we cher ish We are happy for the many athletic events through out the year which permit us to participate as players spectators bandsmen or cheerleaders In years to come we will be able to turn to the CLASS section to recall fond memories of classmates that may have been forgotten with passing years W will remember many of the happy times we had at Howell High School, and all of the fine friendships that were formed during our high school careers 3 , - 1 x . 9 D it 1 , . . .
